About Glaisdale
Glaisdale is the proud winner of Village of the Year for the north of England 2002.
Not only is Glaisdale an incredibly picturesque place, nestled in the Esk Valley, but the sense of community is very strong as well.
Glaisdale village is an ironstone mining village of the 19th Century with attractive terraces of slate-roofed cottages, wide verges and greens that clings to the hillside on the western side of the dale just south of the River Esk.
The village contains a Butchers shop, general store/Post Office, garage and a railway line runs along the Middlesbrough to Whitby Line. It is 8 miles from Whitby, 1 hour’s drive from York, Scarborough and Middlesbrough and is part of the Coast-to-Coast walk.
