Walk Directions

From the front door of the pub cross the road and walk down the road opposite, follow the road as it goes uphill towards the village centre. As the road bends sharp left for the second time turn right by the bungalow (Wrens Nest), there is a wooden footpath sign opposite, and follow the track downhill through the woods to the Mill at the bottom. Pass to the left of the mill and as the path forks take the one to the right towards the river. Follow the path through the trees alongside the river until passing over two styles and into the field.

The path crosses the field roughly following the line of the river, at the end of the first field go over the style and straight on to the crossing over the railway. Cross the line and bear left to a set of steps and a style in the fence. Turn left on the road to where the road bends left, turn right down the track to the river and cross by the footbridge. Turn left on the track until a railway bridge is reached, turn left down the path immediately before the bridge and follow this through the trees until it comes to a field. The path now follows the headland of the field alongside the river to Underpark Farm, go straight ahead into the farmyard and then right and left to leave on the track heading towards Lealholm.

The track will eventually bring you into the village close to the bridge over the river. Turn left over the bridge and up the Rosedale road, it passes a turn for Glaisdale to the left and a turn for Fryup to the right. After crossing the cattle grid take the sign posted bridleway to the left, as it enters the field through a gate the path turns right to follow the field boundary. At the corner of the field it turns left to again follow the boundary to the bottom right hand corner of the field where a stream is crossed by a footbridge. After crossing the bridge bear slightly right uphill to the corner and then bear right again to follow the hedge to a gate in the corner, passing through this will take you straight across to another gate and out onto the road.

Turn left at the road until just before the cattle grid a track goes right onto the moor. Take this track as it bends left and when it goes left into the house go straight ahead, keep left on the path to a gate, pass through this and continue down the path to the road. At the road turn right until High Leas Farm and the Glaisdale sign is reached, turn right off the road into the farmyard, the path leaves the farmyard by a style in the left hand corner. The path is well marked as it passes straight ahead over the fields and through the houses to the road.

At the road take the cul-de-sac almost immediately opposite and follow this downhill till a gate in the left hand wall takes you to the road
